Genesis 1:1-2
In
the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was
without form and void; and darkness was over the face of the deep, and
the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters (ESV) Exodus 19:5-6a Now
therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you
shall be my treasured possession among all people. For all the earth
is mine, and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation
(ESV) Leviticus 19:17-18 You
shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly
with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. You shall not
take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people,
but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord. (ESV) Numbers 6:24-26 The
Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you
and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and
give you peace. (ESV) Deuteronomy 6:4-5 Hear,
O Israel; The Lord your God, the Lord is one; And you shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your strength, and with
all your might. (ESV) Joshua 24:14-15 "Now
therefore fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and in
faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the
River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. And
if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you
will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond
the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as
for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."(ESV)
Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.(ESV) 1 Samuel 16:7 (But
the Lord said to Samuel,) "Do not look on his appearance or on the
height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees
not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord
looks on the heart."(ESV) 1 Kings 18:21 (And Elijah came near to all the people and said,) "How long will you
go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow
Him; but if Baal, then follow him." And the people did not answer him a
word. (ESV)
Isaiah 40:28-31 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (ESV) Jeremiah 29:11-13 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. (ESV)
Ezekiel 3:17 Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. (ESV)

professor granted me permission to write a "reflection" song instead of
a reflection paper concerning the books of the bible that he/we refer
to as the"Warring" books. I wrote it from the perspective of one
encouraging and exhorting those headed into battle. I drew from
Deuteronomy to 2 Samuel and beyond for this one! I hope you are
encouraged as you listen. God has gone before you in battle. Believe
it. Live it! Psalm 23 The Lord is My Shepherd The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness, for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.(ESV) If Today You Hear His Voice Psalm 95:7-8 . . . for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts . . . What Shall I Cry?
Isaiah 40: 6-8 . . . A voice says, "Cry!" And I said, "What shall I cry?" All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the LORD blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.(ESV)

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. |
