I am taking an Old Testament course right now, and one of the requirements is to memorize specific passages throughout the Old Testament. What began as an experiment in songwriting, became a call when I challenged myself to writing a song from each passage. What an Amazing God I have! I look forward to this adventure with Him.
I have found myself gleaning so much from studying, memorizing, and setting scripture from the Old Testament to music, that I have begun to apply a similar process to scripture from the New Testament. My goal in this it to write songs using New Testament text as the lyrics, as well as a song of "response" to the chosen passages.
This collection of songs was recorded many moons ago in a dear friend's studio. The songs are oldies, to me, but I have discovered that the longer I "know" them, the more I understand what I was trying to say.
This grouping of songs holds for me an account of where my heart has been over the last couple of years. Most of these songs were written for the body of which I was a part for over a decade. The journey with that church body is over now, and though that always comes with so many feelings, I can truly say that our God grew the lot of us up while we walked together there with Him.
This collection of songs marks a new chapter, journey, season . . . (whatever ever cheesy Christianese word you want to use here is fine). My feet have discovered that they have touched down in a spacious place with endless possibilities. So, this is where I am at these days, beginning to use the tools my generous and merciful Creator and King has placed before me to use for His purpose and delight.
These are songs without permanent homes. They are waiting to be placed into a loving collection of songs, or perhaps they will join hands with each other to form their own song family. Whether they be brand new songs, old songs that are newly recorded, or "old" recordings, they are welcome to sit a spell in this collection.
This is a house of songs about my little Cuppy Cakes. This house is filled with blessings and thoughts of love for my short ones.
